Shortening URLs is only useful if it is quick. If I have to spend more than 5 seconds to do it I just use the full web address. Goo.gl is the official URL shortening service from Google that only in this days implemented a graphical interface to provide its service.

Google Maps API offer a lot of possibilities, especially with the new Javascript V3 API. Part of this are the so called services: geocoding, directions, elevation and places.

There are two possibilities, one editing Firefox about:config and the other installing the plugin Tab Mix Plus (which I highly suggest anyway).
